El Pomar Foundation – EUROPAEUM

TRANS-ATLANTIC JUNIOR FELLOWSHIP 2010

– Call for Applications –

Applications are invited from Europaeum post-graduates, doctoral or post-doctoral students, for a four-week trans-Atlantic bursary scheme in summer 2010. The El Pomar-Europaeum Trans-Atlantic Junior Fellowship was launched two years ago to give a leading young graduate the chance to taste academic, community and professional life in the US.

The scheme involves spending three weeks attached to the El Pomar Foundation in Colorado, the student will be involved in a busy programme of visits, seminars and discussions, involving community, political and security leaders, and other Foundation fellows in residence, plus access to the extensive library resources. This will be followed by one week in Washington DC, on an internship at a leading organisation such as the International Foundation for Electoral Systems or the World Movement for Democracy.

All costs including travel, visas and accommodation will be covered under the scheme. Successful candidates will be invited to submit an occasional, perhaps weekly, blog of their work, thoughts, activities, together with an end of scheme report. They are also expected to use the Fellowship to develop a paper on some aspect linked to the USA visit.

Applicants are asked to send two applications to their local Europaeum Liaison Officer by April 1st – details can be found by clicking on the University members section on the association website, and to the central office. The application should include a statement on how this opportunity would benefit them in their future work and career and in developing their paper, plus a CV and a support letter from their supervisor.

All applications including letter of intent, demonstrating your interest in the event, a short CV (max. 2 pages), and one or two references, confirmation of availability and ability to visit the US, must be received by 30th April 2010.
